Iraqi Girl Receives Prosthetic Legs

WHAT: Shahad Abbas Aiez, a 12-year old girl from West Baquba, lost both legs below the knee on her way home from school when an IED exploded. Coalition Forces from the 4th BCT 2nd Infantry Division became aware of her situation during a dismounted patrol in her neighborhood earlier this year. The 4th BCT 2nd ID will transport Shahad to the IZ from her home to be fitted for new prosthetic legs by Iraqi Technicians working at the Ministry of Defence Prosthetics Clinic. BG Samir Abdulla, Iraqi Surgeon General, and U.S. Navy Commander Joseph Coleman, MNSTC-I Health Affairs will be available for comment.
