Everyday Mathematics' New Online eSuite Makes Teacher Planning Easier and Learning More Engaging
CHICAGO, May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Everyday Mathematics has created new online
tools that improve student skills, simplify teaching, and offer fun and
engaging learning strategies for students. The Everyday Mathematics eSuite
supplies a comprehensive set of online tools that assist teachers in planning,
monitoring student performance and strengthening the home-school connection.
The eSuite's user-friendly home page provides easy access to:
1. ePlanner
2. Assessment Management System
3. EM Games
4. Interactive My Reference Book
5. Interactive Student Reference Book
6. Family Letters
Incorporating an intuitive design, the eSuite also provides seamless
integration and interconnectivity between each application by eliminating
multiple URLs, usernames, and passwords. In addition to interconnectivity, all
of the Everyday Mathematics online eSuite applications are compatible with
electronic white boards.
"Technology is a key driver of the ever-changing classroom. At Wright
Group, technology is not simply the digitization of a static print product.
Our technology products enhance learning for both teachers and students," said
Dan Caton, president of McGraw-Hill Learning Group, which includes Wright
Group. "Teachers are going to be thrilled with how they can get organized and
drive student achievement with the Everyday Mathematics eSuite, and students
are going to be excited about the engaging and challenging tasks they will
encounter."
Seamless Integration Between Teacher and Student Resources
The eSuite is a set of web-based applications that are accessible from any
computer connected to the Internet. This allows teachers to plan upcoming
lessons anywhere and without having to bring their Teacher's Lesson Guide with
them. The eSuite allows ePlanner users to link directly to EM Games and pages
in the Interactive Student Reference Book. Access to the Assessment Management
System (AMS) is also just one click away.
ePlanner
The Everyday Mathematics ePlanner, launched in January 2008, is a
valuable, timesaving resource that helps teachers to plan their time more
efficiently. With online access to all the content necessary to plan a lesson,
teachers do not have to carry books or search through pages to find desired
content. Each daily plan includes PDF versions of all key resource materials,
links to other online tools, lesson background information, and state
standards addressed in the lesson.
In addition to making yearly, monthly, and daily lesson plans, the
ePlanner allows teachers to print reproducible resources such as Math Masters,
Math Messages, Assessment Masters, and Family Letters directly from their
computer. Teachers can also view non-reproducible pages from the Teacher's
Lesson Guide, Student Journals, as well as Skills Link, which provides
supplemental practice for students.
Assessment Management System (AMS)
New to the Third Edition of Everyday Mathematics, the AMS builds a picture
of student and class performance by tracking progress toward Grade-Level Goals
over time. Based on assessment data, teachers can link to the Differentiation
Handbook and assign remedial or enrichment activities.
EM Games
Games are essential to the pedagogy of Everyday Mathematics because they
provide a fun way for students to practice basic skills. EM Games are
animated, interactive, electronic versions of the board games created by the
author team. Students play the games independently against the computer, and
receive accurate feedback on mathematical concepts. With the online version,
students have unlimited access to the EM Games from home and school, and
teachers can monitor student progress through detailed real-time reports on
students' skill success in each game.
Interactive Versions of My Reference Book and Student Reference Book
The Interactive My Reference Book (Grades 1 and 2) and Interactive Student
Reference Book (Grades 3-6) provide students with English and Spanish content
line-by-line to assist struggling readers and English-language learners. "Try
Me" interactive tools allow students to experiment with concepts and observe
the results. Students can explore concepts such as measuring angles or
modifying geometric shapes. "Show Me" animations give students step-by-step
explanations for different concepts and processes. These interactive reference
books are available online for use at school or at home.
Family Letters
Family Letters are the perfect tool to strengthen the connection between
teachers and families. Families receive one letter per unit with information
about concepts in upcoming lessons. Pre-K through Grade 5 Family Letters are
now offered on Everyday Mathematics online. The letters are available in nine
of the most prevalent languages: Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, English, Haitian
Creole, Korean, Russian, Spanish, and Urdu.
