Any Article by Scientologists Should Have Health Warnings Attached
By A. Gregor
I found NewsBlaze just today and like it very much. However the article by Sylvain GALIBERT (May 03) 'In Response to Scientology's Silence of Free Speech' (does he mean 'silencing', perhaps?) cannot pass without comment. (I am not affiliated to any group.)
The starting point is that any article written by a Scientologist for public consumption should have a health warning attached. Whenever a Scientologist acts as a spokesperson for the organisation or interacts in any other way with the Wog World, they lie. They lie as a matter of principle and training, because L Ron Hubbard told them to lie, and because they cannot confess the truth under any circumstances. I suspect that many of them lie because they no longer know the difference between right and wrong, but that is a different point. NOTHING that they tell us about their own beliefs, their own experience, and their own practices is true. This is why Tom Cruise on Oprah is telling a series of lies, some of them palpable and why the video of his address to his 'congregation' in 2004 is so significant and so sensitive because it was made for internal consumption. In the video he is telling the truth as he and the Scientologist faithful understand it.
In assessing what a Scientologist says, we should believe THE EXACT OPPOSITE. In the context of the Freewinds disaster (according to Lawrence Woodcraft) the top brass said that L. Ron Hubbard had never mentioned asbestos, though he did claim that fibreglass was dangerous, and since he knew everything there was to know about ships, asbestos was not dangerous. They believe, from the same source, that cancer is caused by sexual aberration and that if you have spent enough money and taken enough courses your body is under your control and you won't get cancer.
From this it follows that nothing Mr. Galibert says about psychiatric treatment is true, or, if certain facts are true, they are not complete. The cult not only prevents schizophrenics and other mentally-ill people from taking advice that would enable them to feel normal and live normal lives but have treated cancer with the Purification ritual (which is liable to cause liver damage through niacin poisoning) and they allowed epileptics to die, having taken them off their medication. The Perkins are not the only family devastated by Scientology's idiotic ideas about medical treatment. There has been a similar tragedy in Sydney, Australia, where the daughter killed two members of her family and wounded her mother.
I cannot see what this has to do with free speech. It certainly has a lot to do with Scientology's callous neglect of basic human values, as the Freewinds debacle makes perfectly plain.
