Erie Insurance to Begin Offering Workers' Compensation Coverage in West Virginia


ERIE, Pa., May 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Erie Insurance (Nasdaq:ERIE) has announced that the company will begin writing workers' compensation policies inWest Virginia on July 1, 2008. The company has done business in the state for more than 30 years and offers auto, home, business and life insurance through an exclusive network of independent agents.

Erie Insurance's workers' compensation insurance provides coverage for injury or disease sustained by employees arising in the course and the scope of their employment, in compliance with state laws. The company offers loss control consulting services free of charge to its workers' compensation policyholders.

"Our loss control consultants can help identify potential causes of injury before they occur and assist you in developing a comprehensive safety program tailored to meet your business' unique needs," says Mike Fletcher,Parkersburg branch manager. "This may help reduce losses and save on workers' compensation costs."

TheWest Virginia workers' compensation insurance market will become an open and competitive market on July 1, 2008. Agents who represent Erie Insurance began quoting workers' compensation business with the company on May 1, 2008, for policies with effective dates on or after July 1, 2008.
