Can Engineers Become Managers? -- Author Peter Hughes Reveals How Engineers Can Evolve Into Top-Level Managers

AURORA, Ontario, April 30, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Applied Science, Engineering and Management. What do these three distinct cultures have in common? Engineering professor, management consultant and author Peter Hughes reveals the answer in his informative book, Engineers Becoming Managers.

A must-read for those who are in engineering schools, in engineering positions, and in corporate management, Engineers Becoming Managers raises key issues and concerns on these three related yet distinct cultures, and provides valuable guidance each step of the way. In Part I, the reader is assumed to be in engineering school, surrounded by the applied science culture. In Part II, the reader has an engineering position and must incorporate that culture, which includes management activities. He may wish to progress to being a full-time engineering manager. Finally, in Part III, the reader is heading for senior corporate management. Note that all three cultures must be thoroughly absorbed over this exciting career -- not an easy task.

The older one gets, the more one realizes the enormous importance of "culture" to almost every important human issue, and the topic of engineers becoming managers is certainly no exception. While applied science, engineering and management overlap to a degree, a person cannot move from one success to success in another without considerable effort, dedication and talent. Thus understanding these three cultural differences is essential to engineers whose career goal is to evolve into top-level managers. Buy a copy of this insightful guidebook to gain such knowledge and see those Engineers Becoming Managers.
