21st Century Leaders In Action Program To Be Announced At Signature Gala

21st Century Democrats announced today the launch of a nationwide initiative to identify and engage America's leading progressive elected officials, labor, corporate and community leaders in an effort to create a more prosperous and progressive country. The 21st Century Leaders In Action program will provide support and recognition to progressive leaders who implement bold policies which help to achieve 21st Century Democrats' vision for America.

The inaugural members of the 21st Century Leaders In Action program will be honored at the organization's Signature Gala this evening in Washington, DC. Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison, Maryland State Senator Jamie Raskin and Arizona State Representative Kyrsten Sinema will launch this network of progressive leaders from around the country. The 21st Century Leaders In Action program will be a network of progressive leaders who share ideas and encourage collaboration at the local, state and national level, across all regions of the country, and among a diverse set of constituencies.

21st Century Democrats is a grassroots-oriented political action committee that endorses and helps elect progressive Democrats by training field organizers and placing them on the ground in campaigns. In the last nine years alone, the organization has helped over 165 candidates in 31 states win election; has employed and trained 475 field organizers and 500 canvassers; and has trained more than 4,400 activists in the fundamentals of grassroots organizing.

The organization's 13th annual Signature Gala will be held tonight from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on the rooftop patio of the IBEW Building in Washington, DC. In addition to the 21st Century Leaders In Action honorees, the event will feature 21st Century Democrats' co-founder Senator Tom Harkin, Chairman John Conyers, Jr., and former United States Senator Harris Wofford.
