PHOTOS: Cougars Provide Backpacks to Iraqi Orphans

FORWARD OPERATING BASE FALCON, Iraq - Lt. Col. Myron Reineke, commander, 2nd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, attached to the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division - Baghdad, presents a backpack to an orphan girl April 21 at the Hudhayfah bin al Yaman school for orphans, which is located in the Rashid district of southern Baghdad. Twice in April Reineke and the "Cougars" Squadron have partnered with the National Police in the Abu T'shir community to deliver school supplies to orphan children.


FORWARD OPERATING BASE FALCON, Iraq - A class of orphan children from the Hudhayfah bin al Yaman School for orphans wield the Iraqi flag showing support for their country at a humanitarian aid supply drop April 21 in the Rashid district of southern Baghdad. The Abu T'shir National Police and Soldiers from the 2nd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, attached to the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division - Baghdad, provided children's backpacks and small Iraqi flags to the orphans at the event.

The event marked the second time in two weeks Soldiers from the 2nd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, attached to the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division - Baghdad, and its Iraqi Security counterparts provided supplies to orphans in the Abu T'shir community.

This humanitarian mission marked the second time in April the "Cougars" Squadron has given orphans school supplies. Each orphan at the event presented a new red, black and green backpack that displays the Iraqi flag.
