PHOTOS: MND-B Soldiers Search for Criminals

BAGHDAD - Stryker Infantry Soldiers search a pool hall for any evidence that could lead to the apprehension of high-profile terrorists and criminals operating in Baghdad's Abu T'shir and Saha communities in the southeastern Rashid District April 17. The Multi-National Division - Baghdad Soldiers of Company F, 2nd Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, attached to the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, deployed out of Vilseck, Germany, last year as part of "surge forces" called to reinforce the Baghdad Security Plan, detained several suspects April 17 to include a suspected cell leader believed to be one of MND-B's most wanted individuals responsible for committing crimes and acts of violence in Baghdad. The pool hall was one of many objectives Iraqi Security and Coalition Forces searched during clearing operations April 16-17.

Brady Cowan, a platoon leader assigned to Company F, 2nd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, attached to the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division - Baghdad sits down at an Iraqi family's request April 16 to discuss any concerns or issues they might have regarding security within their local community of Saha, a Shi'a and Sunni-mixed community in the Rashid district of southern Baghdad. Iraqi Security and Coalition Forces conduct dismounted patrols and census operations in the Iraqi neighborhoods daily to strengthen relations and improve security and quality of life for the Iraqi people.

BAGHDAD - A Soldier from "Fox," Company F, 2nd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, attached to the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division - Baghdad, searches a house during an operation, April 17, to root out any information concerning the whereabouts of high-profile special groups criminals and terrorists potentially operating in the southeastern neighborhoods, Saha and Abu T'shir, in Baghdad's Rashid district. The Soldiers knock on the Iraqi residents' door, request permission to enter and begin searching the house, while junior leaders within the unit, discuss any special needs, problems or issues that the local Iraqi community faces. The clearing operations are part of MND-B's ongoing security operations to root out special groups criminals and terrorists operating in the Iraqi capitol.

The Stryker Infantry Soldiers conducted searches and combined operations in support of Operation Raider Typhoon, the 1st BCT's first operation to further prevent enemy activity in their area of operations, since assuming the mission April 13.

The unit out of Vilseck, Germany, assisted Iraqi Security Forces, by providing a blocking position to apprehend a suspect fleeing the Saha mulhallas, or neighborhoods. The individual was one of several individuals targeted by the combined operations to prevent special groups criminals and terrorists from operating in the Rashid district of southern Baghdad.
