Navic Networks Appoints Alec Gerster as Chief Marketing Officer
WALTHAM, Mass., April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Navic Networks, a leader in
advanced television advertising solutions, announced today that advertising
veteran Alec Gerster has joined the company in the newly created position of
chief marketing officer. Gerster will be responsible for broadening industry
awareness and usage of Navic's sophisticated digital targeting and optimized
television advertising technologies.

Gerster will be based inNew York, where he has established deep contacts
in the media and advertising industries during a 35-year career. Most
recently, he was worldwide chief executive officer for Initiative, a major
media service company owned by the Interpublic Group of Companies (IPG).
Gerster left his position at Initiative earlier this year to focus on his
interest in the growing potential of the digital television industry, which as
of February 2009 will include broadcasters in addition to satellite and cable.
Gerster joined Initiative in April 2002 to oversee worldwide operations in
58 countries and a global workforce of over 3,000 employees.
Prior to joining Initiative, Gerster had a 30-year career at Grey Global
group, where he served as chief executive officer of Grey's media service arm
-- MediaCom Worldwide. Under his leadership, the agency became one of the
industry's leading global media networks. In addition, he was an executive
officer of publicly held Grey Global Group and heavily involved with the
group's pioneering digital activities. In addition to his duties as CEO,
Gerster was also director of media ventures for MediaCom's corporate parent,
Grey Global Group. His accomplishments included leading MediaCom to become a
leading influencer in digital media while at the same time playing a key role
in founding Grey Technologies Group.
