illuminate Solutions Correlation Database Technology Highlighted in "Cool Vendors in Data Management and Integration Report, 2008" by Gartner

Appearance on the List of Five Most Innovative Technologies Is the Company's Second Major Mention in 2008 by This Leading Market Analyst Firm

illuminate Solutions (http://www.i-lluminate.com), pioneer of the correlation database management system (CDBMS) technology for building data-driven data warehouses, data marts and analytics applications, today announced that its product is one of only five technologies featured in the "Cool Vendors in Data Management and Integration, 2008" report by Gartner, Inc. Gartner is widely recognized as one of the world's leading IT research and advisory companies.

The report, authored by analysts Ted Friedman, Andreas Bitterer and Donald Feinberg, highlights vendors "that offer innovative approaches and technology." illuminate is included in the report, which calls attention to technologies "for improving the scalability of databases and data warehouses… [which] will grow in importance as organizations work toward managing information as a strategic corporate asset."

Specifically, the report states that illuminate's correlation database storage structure is the only one that indexes every single data value, giving organizations the ability to handle unpredictable query requirements. The technology also stores these data values only once, for excellent performance and a very high compression ratio. In addition, the report notes the technology's speed of deployment and special query types as key differentiators.

Gartner defines a "cool technology" as:

--  Innovative -- enabling users to do things they couldn't do before;
-- Impactful -- having an important business impact (not just technology
    for the sake of technology); and
-- Intriguing -- piquing Gartner's curiosity in the past six months.

"This is the second time this year that Gartner has highlighted our correlation database," noted Kirsten Chapman, illuminate's vice president of global marketing and alliances. "In January, we appeared on its Gartner BI Summit 2008 Hot List because of our ability to solve the ever-growing ad hoc analysis problem. Add these important mentions to the buzz about our free proof-of-concept challenge and we have a pretty amazing start on our 2008 market expansion strategy."

Free Proof-of-Concept Challenge

illuminate announced in March that it is prepared to build data warehouses -- at no cost -- for up to 10 Teradata, Netezza, HP Neoview, or other large, well-designed and optimized information management infrastructures. The goal is to prove that a correlation DBMS data warehouse platform needs neither user requirements predefinition nor database predesign, and that it is fast to build and a fraction of the size of their existing systems.

Proof-of-Concept Details

-- illuminate will build DWs for up to 10 qualifying organizations.
-- Organizations must have complex analytics data storage systems.
-- The POC will use all the same raw data sources.
-- There is no charge and no commitment to purchase.

Proof-of-Concept Results

-- Demonstrate fast data warehouse build -- fully functional duplicate of
    entire database;
-- Demonstrate correct functionality -- all data is loaded and is
    selected accurately; and
-- Demonstrate flexible access -- experience the added value of the value-
    based storage (VBS) technology.

About illuminate Solutions, S.L.

illuminate Solutions, headquartered in Barcelona, Spain, is the pioneer of the correlation DBMS (CDBMS) for building data warehouses. By automatically creating a data-driven schema and indexing 100 percent of data during the raw data loading process, a CDBMS nearly eliminates the need for predesign. A CDBMS data warehouse is compact due to its unique value-based storage™ (VBS) model, which stores each unique data value only once. A CDBMS eliminates the trade-off between performance and flexibility that so often frustrates IT and business users alike, and dramatically lowers the time/cost of data warehouse deployment and management.

illuminate's products: iLuminate, its CDBMS engine, and a full tool suite for data access; iCorrelate, for exploration; and iAnalyze, for light analytics, dashboards, and mapping.

illuminate sells exclusively through IT consulting services and management consulting companies in the Americas. In Europe, products are sold direct and through a partner network. European customers include BBVA, CAIFOR (LA CAIXA), ARAG, IESE, ZURICH, infojobs and RORI, among others.
