Candidates Sought for PA Game Commission Board
HARRISBURG, Pa., April 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Governor's Advisory Council for Hunting, Fishing and Conservation is seeking a qualified candidate to represent north central counties in District 3 on the Pennsylvania Game Commission's board of directors.
District 3 includesCameron,Centre,Clearfield,Clinton,Elk,Jefferson,McKean,Potter and counties.
"We need someone who knows about wildlife conservation and restoration and who is adept at listening to the needs and concerns of the hunting, trapping and conservation community," said Ed Grasavage, chairman of the council's game and wildlife subcommittee. "We're reaching out to sportsmen and women of the district in an attempt to find highly qualified candidates interested in interviewing for the position."
Russell E. Schleiden, ofCentre Hall,Centre County, currently represents District 3. His term expires in November.
Commissioners serve eight-year terms without compensation. They receive travel reimbursement and are not eligible for reappointment.
Candidates will first interview with the game and wildlife subcommittee of the advisory council and will be rated on their responses, as well as on their professional and volunteer experience with wildlife conservation, youth recruitment and hunter retention, land conservation and other similar activities. All applicants must live in the district.
Governor Edward G. Rendell will select the final candidate to be presented for Senate confirmation.
