R.G. Barry Expects Minimal Business Disruption After Tornado Damages Texas Distribution Facility
PICKERINGTON, Ohio, April 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Accessory footwear
marketer R.G. Barry Corporation (Nasdaq: DFZ), the Dearfoams(R) company,
expects little disruption to its business after an apparent tornado struck the
company'sSan Angelo, Texas, distribution center early today.
The storm stuck the 173,000 square foot facility, which was closed for the
day, shortly after midnight Central Time. No injuries were reported.
The Company, one of the world's leading developers and marketers of
accessory category footwear, distributes approximately 20-to-25 percent of its
annual business through theSan Angelo facility. The bulk of the Company's
business is handled through third-party logistics facilities in southern
California.
Senior Company officials estimate that approximately 30 percent of the
building's high-bay distribution area was damaged or destroyed by the storm.
The Company has begun the process of activating a backup distribution facility
in theSan Angelo area and expects to resume shipments from there as early as
next week. The Company said there would be no interruption in the employment
status of the approximately 35 full-time employees at the distribution center.
TheSan Angelo distribution center is principally used to fulfill sales to
retailers of the Company's Terrasoles(R) and licensed Superga(R) brands; sales
to consumers through the Company's various e-commerce sites; and to handle
end-of-season returns.
The facility, inventory and business continuity are fully insured.
