MotorCity Casino Hotel is in the NHL & NBA Playoff Spirit
DETROIT, April 9, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- To show its support of the Detroit
Red Wings' 17th consecutive season in NHL playoff action, and the Detroit
Pistons sixth consecutive run for the NBA championship, MotorCity Casino Hotel
will shine red on all Red Wings game days and red and blue on all Pistons game
days during the 2007-08 playoff seasons. MotorCity is clad with
high-intensity programmable LED (light emitting diodes) light tubes that
illuminate the exterior of the new landmark and give an exciting look to the
Detroit skyline.
Nearly 4,800 LED light tubes embrace MotorCity's hotel tower and saturate
it in color from the third to the 15th floors. The fixtures use less than half
the power of an incandescent bulb and can last 10 years. They are capable of
16.7 million colors, and are fully programmable to present light shows
reflective of the seasons, holidays and local festivities. "The Red Wings and
Pistons playoff runs are exactly the kind of events that MotorCity looks
