Celox-A honoured with a top Innovation Award by EMS magazine
MANCHESTER, Cheshire United Kingdom (EWORLDWIRE) Apr 8, 2008
Celox-A, the new revolutionary life saving haemostat for penetrating wounds such as bullet, shrapnel and knife wounds, is now being used in Afghanistan and saving troops' lives.
MedTrade, Crewe, U.K. is proud to announce that Celox-A, the new unique and revolutionary haemostat for penetrating wounds such as bullet, shrapnel and knife wounds, has already saved two lives in Afghanistan.
Celox rapidly controls moderate to severe bleeding from arterial wounds within minutes of application by attracting red blood cells to the wound's surface and forming a strong gel plug which seals the wound.
Since its introduction to the U.S. market in 2006, Celox's ability to rapidly clot blood has made it the haemostat of choice for many U.S. military, police, fire and ambulance medics. Celox has been demonstrated to rapidly and reliably stop major bleeding in major wounds. It works independently of temperature and the body's own blood clotting mechanisms; it is also able to clot blood in the presence of anti-coagulants such as Heparin and Coumadin.
Now Celox-A (applicator) has taken the product a technology a leap forward making it possible to treat wounds which have a small entry hole and a deep tract. Such wounds are all too common and can be caused by bullets, knifes, shrapnel or any other penetrating trauma.
Craig Hardy, CEO of MedTrade, said, "Celox-A has received an outstanding reception following its introduction to the U.S. in February, 2008. We are therefore thrilled to see the product being used in action and saving the lives of our soldiers from previously untreatable wounds."
Celox-A has been honoured with a top Innovation Award by EMS magazine.

About the Celox applicator
The Celox applicator is very easy to use and begins with priming the end of the barrel a little to make sure that it isn't clogged. Users enter the instrument roughly two inches into the wound, and insert all of Celox contents into the injury. The innovative haemostat Celox product assists severe blast injury with some major distal bleeding. A bandage can be used in conjuction with the applicator. The Celox life-saving intervention will help control the bleeding and make the patient more stable.
