FORWARD OPERATING BASE KALSU, Iraq - Pfc. Kishni Lewis, a Raleigh, N.C., native, funds a customer with casual pay April 2. Kishni serves as a cashier with Detachment A, 8th Finance Battalion, a finance unit from Baumholder, Germany, attached to the Special Troops Battalion, 1st Sustainment Brigade,
"I like my job because I like money," said Lewis. "I like being in the cash cage helping customers."
Soldiers of Det. A, 8th Finance Bn., services between 100 and 200 customers a day. They also provide financial services to Forward Operating Base Delta as well as FOB Kalsu south of Baghdad.
FORWARD OPERATING BASE KALSU, Iraq - Sgt. Catherine Hamel, a Queens, N.Y., native, finishes paperwork to clear out pay agents April 2. Pay agents are funded with money to pay local nationals who work on the forward operating base. Hamel serves as the noncommissioned officer in charge of disbursing for Detachment A, 8th Finance Battalion, which is attached to the Special Troops Battalion, 1st Sustainment Brigade. The unit, which is based out of Baumholder, Germany, provides financial services to Forward Operating Base Delta in addition to FOB Kalsu south of Baghdad.
FORWARD OPERATING BASE KALSU, Iraq - Sgt. Victoria Green, an Elliot, S.C., native, processes a customer's information so that he can receive casual pay. Casual pay is an advance in pay which servicemembers can receive up to $350 in cash a month. Green serves as a pay manager with Detachment A, 8th Finance Battalion, which is attached to the Special Troops Battalion, 1st Sustainment Brigade.
