***The Clock Is Ticking*** Important Tax-Tips You Might Have Overlooked
CORAL GABLES, Fla., March 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Faith Xenos, co-founder and
partner of Singer Xenos, one of South Florida's largest independent wealth
management firms, is available to discuss what can be done to boost last
minute tax savings, such as:
-- When given the option, file! "Lower income folks who wouldn't
ordinarily file a tax return--like senior citizens, veterans, students
and part-timers--should file a tax return in order to get the new
Economic Stimulus payments," advises Xenos. "That can be up to $600,
but you must file a tax return for 2007, or you'll miss out on this
free money."
-- Take advantage of lower tax brackets. "Last year was not an impressive
market year," explains Xenos. "The S&P 500 was only up 5.49%, so many
people may be facing losses or flat returns. If you had little
investment income, you could accelerate payments from IRA or tax-
deferred plans that normally get aggregated with taxable income from
investments and possibly take advantage of a lower tax bracket."
-- Fund your SEP. "There's still time to fund your SEP (simplified
employee pension) plan. If you're self employed and have no employees,
you can put up to 15% of your annual income away up until April 15th
2008," says Xenos. "This can be a wonderful pre-tax savings."
