Hayfield High School Senior Marcus Clarke Recognized at Hollywood Event
Marcus Clark, a Senior student attending production classes at West Potomac Academy, was recognized Monday night for his stellar achievements in film by an elite panel of Hollywood insiders. Marcus was given the "Young Filmmaker Award," an annual honor presented to the young person with the most potential to make a difference in the world of entertainment by the judging panel of the Cinema City International Film Festival.
In his acceptance speech, Marcus thanked his teacher, Nancy Mantelli, his mentor, Casting Director Pixie Monroe, and, of course his ever-supportive mother. He attended a red carpet ceremony that included appearances by Cuba Gooding Sr., Ja'net Dubois, and Ed McMahon, and was recognized alongside his peers and industry leaders in categories ranging from Best Music Video to Best Documentary.
"It was more than I could have expected," said Clarke, when asked about his experience. "I was totally inspired to make movies as good as the ones I saw. The whole experience was surreal for me."
Long time Producer/Director Suzanne DeLaurentis and PR "It" Girl Juliette Harris presided over the ceremony, which took place in Century City, between the Fox lot and the Creative Artists Agency's (CAA) headquarters, an industry powerhouse.
"For our sakes I certainly hope Marcus keeps making movies!" laughed Marcus' mentor, Pixie Monroe. "He's immensely talented, and the attention he's getting here is only the start of what I believe will be a productive career for a very bright, extraordinary talented young man."
