2Wire Expands Market Presence in Canada, Launches Residential Gateway Offer With Canada's Largest Broadband Provider

Canada's largest broadband provider, Bell
Canada, is providing Sympatico(TM) Total Internet subscribers with 2Wire
residential gateways for enhanced home networking and Internet service. New
subscribers of Sympatico Total Internet Performance and Total Internet Max
services will receive the 2Wire HomePortal® 2701HG residential gateway.
The 2Wire HomePortal 2701HG residential gateway has set the standard for
excellence in ADSL home networking. This one-box solution features an
advanced ADSL2+ modem, a high-performance router, 802.11g wireless access
point, and flexible home networking options, including simultaneous
wireless Internet access by multiple users.
"HomePortal residential gateways are ideal for broadband subscribers that
want professional grade equipment without the headaches of complex set-up
and network management," said Sean Parham, executive vice president and
general manager of gateways and management systems at 2Wire. "The
ease-of-use, professional grade firewall, and extended wireless reach are
just a few of the features we've incorporated to make Internet access and
home networking a simple and secure, yet powerful experience for everyone
in the family."
The HomePortal gateway's high speed routing capability lets subscribers
fully utilize the maximum speed provided by the broadband connection. The
gateway's Wi-Fi certified HyperG(TM) wireless technology and
triple-antennae design also improve wireless performance and reach,
virtually eliminating "cold-spots" or "dead zones" throughout the home.
Eligible Sympatico Total Internet offerings leverage 2Wire's Greenlight
CD-less DSL installation, which automatically provisions broadband
equipment and services. Greenlight allows subscribers to simply plug in
their HomePortal residential gateway and instantly surf the Internet. With
no CD or manual process to complicate the setup, Greenlight takes the work
out of service provisioning and drastically reduces customer installation
related support calls.
Bell Canada's broadband customers will also experience the benefit of 2Wire
CMS, a comprehensive platform for the deployment and management of
next-generation home networking equipment and services. CMS improves
customer care by enabling instant subscriber provisioning, activation, and
delivery of new high-value services, as well as by providing a live link
that allows Sympatico Consumer Services to directly access customer
premises equipment for real time diagnostics and trouble shooting. CMS also
provides the foundation for rapid delivery and support of next-generation
services in the home, including triple play and fixed/mobile converged
services.
"Because Bell Canada is combining the functionality of HomePortal
residential gateways with the management capabilities of CMS, Sympatico
Total Internet subscribers should benefit from an exceptionally powerful,
flexible, and easy-to-use experience," said Parham.
