Alliance Française De Pasadena Presents a Soiree of Art

  Share With Friends

Alliance Française de Pasadena is pleased to announce the return of the annual French Art Soirée, an evening inspired by French culture that includes an art exhibition, champagne, regional wine tasting, and a progressive stroll through Old Pasadena, Saturday, March 22 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. This event celebrating classic French joie de vivre, is free and open to all.

The Soirée is timed with the international celebration of "Francophonie," which is recognized in more than 55 countries as a day that unites 200 million French speakers worldwide. The Pasadena celebration focuses on the enduring influences of art, wine and food, and a late afternoon promenade (literally, stroll) that is so associated with regional French life.

The Soirée begins at 4:00 P.M. Attendees are invited to begin either at the Alliance Française de Pasadena located at 34 East Union or at the Armory Center for the Arts, both located two blocks from each other in Old Pasadena. At either location, participants can sample an array of regional wines, champagnes and cheeses, and are invited to stroll between the two institutions at will. The evening concludes at 7:00 P.M.

At the Armory Center for the Arts, the exhibition includes more than 50 works by Pasadena area artists who have either lived, worked or been inspired by France, both in terms of their chosen subjects and artistic techniques. The exhibition is curated by the Alliance Française de Pasadena to reflect French cultural influences on contemporary art. The exhibition continues through April 13, 2008.

In addition to the Alliance Française de Pasadena, this second annual French Art Soirée is presented by LILA School of Pasadena and Armory Center for the Arts. For more information the public is asked to please call (626) 683-3774 or e-mail afdepasadena@earthlink.net

The Alliance Française de Pasadena was founded in 1924. Its purpose is to encourage the study of the French language and culture and promote understanding and friendship between the French people and others who share these interests. The Pasadena chapter differs from other language schools by offering a blend of language learning and cultural immersion. www.afdepasadena.org
