No Lifetime Pre-Paid SIM cards in Kashmir

Srinagar, March 14: The Indian government has decided not to issue SIM cards with lifelong validity in violence-hit Kashmir to prevent its misuse.
The Indian government's Department of Telecommunication has issued a circular asking the mobile companies in Kashmir not to issue new lifelong validity SIM cards in Kashmir.
In the wake of the circular, no telecom operator in Kashmir can issue a lifetime prepaid SIM.
Meanwhile, the fate of over 400,000 mobile phone subscribers using lifelong pre paid SIM card faces remains uncertain after the directions from the Indian government.
The Indian government's Department of Telecommunication has not made it clear what will be the future of those mobile users who are already using the lifelong validity SIM cards.
