God Changes Life of Delinquent
Is God for children or only for grownups?
For the parents of Margaret Iuculano, God was something that was only to be left for adults, but it seemed no power on earth would prevent Margaret from heading toward an early grave, as life seemed to keep going from bad to worse.
Miss Iuculano's earlier life reads like a horror movie; an abusive childhood, a receiving home for battered children, Juvenile Hall, a 'carousel' of foster care families, a mental health facility and a running wild on the streets
"It was just a matter of time before I would wind up dead," says Miss Iuculano. " But everything changed when the Holy Ghost filled my heart with the love God, planting
in her mind an iron clad faith in the Divine Creator."
Miss Iuculano recounts her earlier life and conversion in her riveting new book, My God Box. The book traces her growing up years as a neglected, rejected child, repeatedly beaten by an abusive alcoholic step-father, while a chronically depressed mother shut herself in a room refusing to deal with the dysfunctional family situation.
"My parents were predominately non-believers who took me to church on rare occasions," says Miss Iuculano. Her parents a relationship with God was an adult issue, and not essential during the growing up years. Their take on religion was a 'Children just don't need God,' philosophy. Labeled an 'incorrigible' child, the author was pulled from school and her friends, and banished from the family home. But God had other plans for Margaret. "Miserable, with no one to turn to," Margaret says, "I received a special gift-the Holy Ghost enlightened me to the love and goodness of the Lord. I was introduced to my Creator! It was empowering. It was a life altering event-but more importantly I received a 'calling' to help others."
In her inspirational book My God Box, Margaret states, "When I decided I no longer wanted to be unhappy, I knew I could not succeed alone. Then when I found happiness, I was fully aware it was due to the presence of the Lord in my life. He had a plan for me and moved me step by step along the path He designed." My God Box is the revelation of how Margaret shattered the victim mind-set; a self- defamatory attitude that actually made her more of a victim than the devastating circumstances of her life. "With the help of God," she affirms, "I was able to interrupt the harmful sequence of negativity and concentrate on utilizing my faith to rid me of the fears and insecurities that locked me in an impasse."
My God Box is about the power of faith in God. It's about opening your mind and heart to the message of God. It's about awareness of the evils that surround us, and it's about having the courage to right the wrongs that bring pain and misery to other children.
