GOOD, NRDC, and the Hotel San Jose Present 'Choose GOOD Austin'
AUSTIN, Texas, March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- GOOD, a media company committed to
creating entertaining, relevant content for a socially engaged audience, teams
up with NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council), a nationwide environmental
action organization to throw a free party for GOOD subscribers, SXSW
attendees, and the local Austin community. On March 12, from noon to 9pm, the
HotelSan Jose will host a celebration to bring together the GOOD community to
promote social activism and raise awareness of local and national issues
surrounding politics, environment, public health, and transportation.
NRDC has thirty-five years of expertise in identifying the major
environmental issues of our time -- and figuring out how to solve them. NRDC's
ItsYourNature.org, a new interactive site, reminds us that we have the power
to participate -- whether that means putting pressure on our government,
urging businesses to implement better practices, or simply changing our
habits, we can craft a society we believe in.
Attendees will be treated to performances by Noisettes, Kimya Dawson,
Lightspeed Champion, The Deadly Syndrome, Mason Jennings, The Exit, Langhorne
Slim & Hello Stranger, and beverages provided by French Rabbit, Izze Sparkling
Juice, and Richard's Rainwater. Hope Equity will have a booth with information
about investing in and building a community for sustained giving, and
eradicating hunger and poverty while caring for the earth. They will also give
away free bamboo t-shirts. Additionally, GOOD subscribers will receive a stamp
giving them access to a DIY station by Etsy; a live silk-screening station by
Forward Collective and East End Ink; a free Loomstate tote bag to be custom
silk-screened; and photos from the GOOD Photobooth. Non-subscribers will be
able to subscribe, and as one of GOOD Magazine's 2008 "Choose GOOD" partners,
100% of the subscription fees ($20) will benefit NRDC's ItsYourNature.org.
