Ex-Navy Pilot Writes Young Adult Thriller
Bella Wood Press is proud to announce the release of the new novel by Danny Alvin Chambers, former U.S. Navy Carrier Pilot.
Chambers, who is today a pilot for a major US cargo airline, wrote this exciting book for his children while he was deployed at sea aboard the USS Kittyhawk.
"I had three young daughters at home and used this story as motivation to communicate with them every day that I was away," says Mr. Chambers. "Their mother read each segment to them during breakfast as they patiently waited for their Daddy to come home."
Forbidden Fortune: The Legend of the Frenchman's Gold is a gripping treasure hunt mystery. "Everyone loves a treasure hunt, says Mr. Chambers. "But, this story revolves around the treasures that surround us every day: our children, our friends, our families and the relationships that each of these entail."
The gist of the story is this: Two centuries ago, a French quartermaster for the famed Lewis and Clark Expedition, Louis Mattour secretly traded with Indians for gold. The legend goes that he hid his treasure deep in one of the many caves along the Blackfoot River in Montana before vanishing without a trace.
Many fortune hunters tried and failed for years to locate the Frenchman's gold, but when three young boys of the local town tragically disappeared looking for it in the late 1950's, all attempts ceased.
Now, over thirty years later, a treasure hunter arrives and believes he has the "secret" to finding Mattour's hidden treasure. But forces both natural and unnatural are poised to derail his expedition when three local boys stumble upon the excavation.
Mr. Chambers has spent his career in aviation. In addition to his duties as an airline pilot, he has also been a flight instructor, maintenance officer and avionics technician. He has traveled around the world, visiting more than twenty-five countries. He is the father of three daughters and is currently working on two more novels at his home in Tennessee.
"This is a great family story that readers will want to share with their children," says Mr. Chambers. "It will remind readers of simpler times and the truly precious things in life."
