Srinagar, March 10: Police claimed to have foiled a plan of Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Toiba militants to carry out suicide attack in Srinagar.
Giving details, a top police officer told NewsBlaze that police were regularly receiving inputs that Lashkar militants are planning a sensational suicide attack in Srinagar city at the onset of summer.
"The inputs further indicated that the arms, ammunition, and uniform to carry out the attacks were being transported from North Kashmir and dumped in the fringes of Srinagar," he said.
He further said, "These inputs were further developed by police, which led to the identification of a house which was being used as a hideout by militants in the outskirts of Srinagar".
The police officer said that an operation was planned to arrest the militants and recover the weapons. "An operation was conducted in the house in the outskirts of Srinagar and the militant hideout built inside the house was busted," he said, adding, "During search of the hide-out, stitched police uniforms and pouches to be used for carrying out suicide attack, three sewing machines used for stitching uniforms, police uniform cloth, six hand grenades, seven AK magazines, 200 rounds of AK ammunition, one 2" mortar, one Thuraya phone and some important coded documents were recovered".
He added, "The hideout was highly secure made of reinforced concrete. The hideout was to be used as the launching pad for suicide attackers".
