Authentic Pizzeria Coming to River Street Plaza in Aurora

The new restaurant, named the River Street Pizzeria and Pub, is the continuation of a business that began over thirty years ago and has roots reaching back toItaly.

Antonio Lamberto moved fromNaples,Italy to New York at age fourteen and while attending school began working for a local pizza restaurant. Upon graduation Mr. Lamberto continued working at the Pizzeria and honed his skills in both food preparation as well as learning the day-to-day operations of a pizza restaurant.

Following his marriage he moved to Binghampton, New York and opened his restaurant, Villa Pizza. "We operated Villa Pizza for over twenty years," said Mr. Lamberto, "and were very proud to have served our customers a menu of authentic Italian pizzas and other dishes. We tossed and stretched the dough by hand and only used the best ingredients for all of our dishes. We made then, and continue to make our food the old school way."

Mr. Lamberto recently moved to theChicago area to be closer to family members and is opening the River Street Pizzeria and Pub in partnership with his nephew Aniello Lombardozzi. "We are excited to bring an authentic old school New York style pizzeria to the city of Aurora and look forward to introducing our traditional Italian pizzas and dishes to our patrons," said Mr. Lombardozzi. "Our new restaurant will have a sports theme and will feature flat-screen TV's located throughout as well as having a full service bar and outdoor and indoor seating for over seventy-five people. Our pizzeria will be an inviting destination to not only watch a sporting event but to also enjoy an inviting atmosphere and most importantly to enjoy great food. We're a family business and are very excited about the location and this opportunity at River Street Plaza."

The proposed 2,750 square foot layout of the establishment will include an open pizza preparation area for patrons to watch the creation of their authentic Italian pizza. The menu will be extensive featuring appetizers, soup and salad, cold and hot sandwiches, full dinners and Mr. Lamberto's renowned desserts. Sit down dining, carryout, delivery and catering will all be available.

The architect for this project is Gordon Rathwell, Principal of Rathwell and Associates. Mr. Rathwell has completed an extensive number of design build restaurant projects throughout the western suburbs.

The River Street Pizzeria and Pub is the fourth restaurant to sign a lease in Building One at River Street Plaza. A Jimmy John's Sandwich Shop is open for business and plans have been submitted for a Bistro-style restaurant slated to open in 2008 while a gourmet coffee shop, the Kona Cafe, is moving through the design stage.

All restaurants currently planned at River Street Plaza are located in Building One and comprise over forty percent of the restaurant space available in that building. Building Two was completed in February 2008 and has opened new space and opportunities for local, regional and even national restaurateurs.
