eSoft's InstaGate was also one of only two products in the review to receive 5 out of 5 stars in every category evaluated: Features, Performance, Ease of Use, Documentation, Support, and Value for Money. eSoft's InstaGate was up against UTM solutions from Astaro, Cyberoam, DeepNines, Fortinet, IBM-ISS, Panda Security, SonicWall, VascoData Security and ZyXel Communications.

Reviewers start eSoft's product summary on a positive note: "the eSoft InstaGate 604 is back again this year, and we found not much has changed. However, that may be a good thing because we love this product. The InstaGate provides a full load of customizable features tailored to the environment."

Reviewers continue by describing the InstaGate's ease of use. "With all of these features [including spam protection, email filtering, web URL filtering, IPS, malware and anti-virus scanning across all protocols, IPS and bot detection], one would expect this device to be complicated to use. However, quite the opposite is true. This product comes out of the box, plugs into the network and is up and running in minutes. Setup is done through a wizard and, at the end of the configuration, the InstaGate retrieves ThreatPaks and updates itself. From there it takes just a few clicks to customize policy and setup is complete. The web GUI itself is also simple to navigate and use."

The review continues, highlighting other areas in which the InstaGate excels:

As for marks against the product, reviewers couldn't come up with any: "Weaknesses: none that we found." Reviewers concluded the InstaGate summary with: "This continues to be a solid product and we rate it our Best Buy."
