Another Soldier Commits Suicide in Kashmir
By Fayaz Wani
Srinagar, March 5: Another Indian para-military soldier deployed in violence-hit Kashmir committed suicide today by shooting himself with his own service rifle.
An Indian para-military soldier deployed on guard inside at camp at Zakoora in outskirts of Srinagar shot himself last night. Identified as constable Mahaveer Singh Lamba (No. 045162979) of 137 Bn. CRPF, the soldier was taken to a nearby hospital by his colleagues, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Top police and para-military officials visited the spot to take stock of the situation.
Both agencies launched separate investigations into the incident.
It is pertinent to mention here that Indian army and para-military forces have taken several measures including introduction of yoga classes and counseling to the soldiers in Kashmir, but these measures have failed to stop suicides among the armed forces.
