Kashmir Explosion Kills 2, Injures 5

Srinagar, March 5: A power explosion in a residential house in South Kashmir killed two persons including a 65 year old woman.
Police said that a powerful explosion took place inside the residential house of one Abdul Hamid Nengroo at Reshinagri, Shopian, 68 kms from summer capital Srinagar during the preceding night. The blast caused injuries to seven persons and shattered the window and glass panes of the house.
The impact of the blast was felt in the adjoining areas as well.
The injured persons were shifted to a local hospital, where doctors declared two of them as dead. Among the dead is a 65 year old woman Ms. Jana alias Janti, wife of Abdul Rashid Nengroo.
The doctors are attending on the five other injured and have termed condition of two of them as "life threatening".
Police have launched investigations into the incident.
There were unconfirmed reports that the explosive device was hurled to the house by some unidentified persons, causing blast and loss of lives.
