Two Religious Leaders Discuss Prayer

Two well-known religious leaders discussed the prayer and its potency in their meeting in San Francisco (USA).

Rajan Zed, prominent Hindu chaplain and Indo-American leader, met Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, world famous spiritual and humanitarian leader, on Saturday and talked about his (Zed's) prayers from ancient Sanskrit scriptures in various legislative bodies of USA in the recent past.

Zed was of the view that prayer opened the doors of heart to God's love. Sri Sri suggested that last hymn of Rig-Veda (samani va akutih, samana hrdayani vah, samanam astu vo mano, yatha vah susahasti: United your resolve, united your hearts, may your spirits be at one, that you may long together dwell, in unity and concord!) was a very powerful and appropriate mantra to be included in prayers. Rig-Veda is the oldest scripture of the world still in common use, dated from around 1,500 BCE.

Sri Sri is the founder of Art of Living Foundation, which "seeks to help build a global society that is free of stress, violence, and misery-and full of service, wisdom, and celebration". Zed delivered the historic first Hindu prayer of United States Senate in Washington DC in July last.
