Letter to the Editor
Freedom of the Press ONLY for Obama Supporters?
By Kenneth Hodges
I hope in the name of Samuel Adams that I'm not the only one seeing the shockingly obvious at work here.
While Republican Presidential front runner John McCain is still catching media stoked flack from the now infamous New York Times hit piece with less credibility than Nathan Detroit, Barack Obama goes on escaping numerous potential scandals with a not so covert assist from a duplicitious "mainstream" media. It's become a disturbingly real life version of the Saturday Night Live satire on the Clinton-Obama debates, where the media people grovelled before Obama and attacked any criticism of him like a mother tiger defending her young. It would have been funny if it weren't so true to life.
We have things as concrete as major financial dealings and campaign donations from indicted Chicago developer and long time associate Tony Rezko or repeated absences from high profile, controversial votes in the US Senate with either "campaign related" excuses or even being on hand but merely choosing to just vote "present" and not take a position. Even Hillary Clinton had the guts to do this, what about Barack? This is omitting the odd ties to the openly racist Luis Farrakhan as well. Toss in the public requested silence on the use of his given middle name Hussein, which Senator McCain was kind enough to honor and you've got quite a little pandoras box!
I for one am sick and tired of seeing the major media repeatedly excuse or try to just alabi away any wrongs with Democrat Barack Obama while often conducting a virtual ongoing witch-hunt on his Republican counterpart John McCain. I myself have written over 40 letters to the editors of the two major San Francisco Bay Area newsapers supporting the Republicans or critiqueing the Democrats and only one has been published. That one made no mention of Obama or McCain.
