Wellspring programs help thousands of overweight children return to a healthy weight

Wellspring Academies (formerly Academy of the Sierras), Wellspring Camps and Wellspring Community Programs are recognized as the leading weight loss treatment programs for overweight children, teens and young adults. Effective today, these renowned programs will be identified under one name, Wellspring, to ease confusion for the millions seeking simple, scientific, and sustainable treatment for obesity.

"The name change to Wellspring unifies our remarkably effective programs under one brand and Wellspring more aptly reflects our mission to promote wellness through a healthy lifestyle, including proper diet, activities, and lifestyle change," said Ryan Craig, Wellspring president. "Our rapid growth in North America, and internationally, demonstrates our leadership position and the success of our participants."

Wellspring offers programs with varying degrees of immersion and intensity to meet the dynamic needs of overweight adolescents, including year-round boarding schools, summer camps and after-school programs. Academy of the Sierras, now Wellspring Academies, was founded in 2004 in California as the first year-round residential treatment program for overweight and obese children and adolescents. The second Wellspring Academy opened in 2007 in North Carolina.

Nine Wellspring summer camps are available in the U.S., United Kingdom and Australia. In 2008, Wellspring will launch a new program for adults called Wellspring Retreats as well as a third Wellspring Academy in the United States.

Wellspring programs allow young people who struggle with being overweight to lose weight and change their lives for the better. The directors and members of the Advisory Board of Wellspring are among the world's leading experts in weight loss. Wellspring programs have achieved the best results ever recorded for weight loss programs for children, adolescents or adults.
