NeuStar's Managed Internal DNS/DHCP Service Garners High Marks in Frost & Sullivan Market Survey

STERLING, Va., Feb. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NeuStar, Inc., a provider of clearinghouse and directory services to the global communications and Internet industry, announced today that its Managed Internal Domain Name Systems (DNS) with Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Service -- an offering within the company's UltraDNS Services suite -- has drawn strong customer interest in a survey of over 200 senior IT executives conducted by Frost & Sullivan, a global growth consulting company. The survey identified that the managed service approach was seen as superior to the traditional DNS/DHCP appliance with regards to service level agreements (59%), monitoring and support (57%), and patching and upgrades (51%).

The survey confirmed that IT executives are receptive to a managed internal DNS/DHCP service, with 80% of respondents expressing a "positive" or "neutral" propensity to consider such a service. The numbers were even more impressive with IT executives who have plans to upgrade their DNS infrastructures in the next one to five years, with 55% stating they would consider a managed service. Only 3% of respondents stated that they would definitely not consider the service.

"A managed internal DNS/DHCP service such as NeuStar's represents a radically different and effective approach to addressing an enterprise's DNS infrastructure requirements," said Daniel Colquhoun, vice president at Frost & Sullivan. "The survey results show that customers are very receptive to the idea of a managed internal DNS/DHCP service, and that they understand the true value this solution offers."

The Managed Internal DNS/DHCP Service was launched in 2006 to address the demand for DNS infrastructure that can deliver carrier-class performance, comprehensive security, massive scalability, and 24/7 monitoring and support -- all while adhering to the most stringent service-level agreements (SLAs) in the industry. With DNS increasingly at the core of critical business processes and communication services, companies can no longer rely on traditional, in- house approaches to their DNS infrastructure.

"The survey results confirm what we have been hearing from our own customer base, and reflect the dramatic expansion we're seeing for managed services and Software as a Service, or SaaS, in general," said Ben Petro, senior vice president of NeuStar Ultra Services. "IT executives are facing enormous challenges in managing their internal DNS/DHCP infrastructure, and traditional hardware- and software-based solutions are proving inadequate. The managed services approach provides them with a compelling alternative that will address these challenges both now and in the future."

The study was conducted using a panel of business professionals. Respondents were invited to participate via an email invitation and completed a 15-minute web-based questionnaire. The panel source is considered representative of the general population of IT and other business professionals.
