Pratt & Whitney Selects Hamilton Sundstrand for Engine Controls and Accessories on Next Generation Engines


EASTHARTFORD, Conn., Feb. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Pratt & Whitney, a division of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), selected Hamilton Sundstrand to provide engine controls and accessories for the company's next generation of engines for the new Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ), Bombardier CSeries and Cessna Citation Columbus business aircraft. Under the agreement, Hamilton Sundstrand will provide the engines' control, fuel, pneumatic and thermal management systems.

Pratt & Whitney's Next Generation Product Family is setting new standards for fuel efficiency, engine noise, environmental performance and low operating costs. The Geared Turbofan engine has been selected as the exclusive power source for the new 70- to 90-passenger Mitsubishi Regional Jet and the 110- to 130-seat Bombardier CSeries. Both aircraft are expected to launch in 2008 and are scheduled to enter service in 2013.

Earlier this year, Pratt & Whitney Canada's PW810 engine was selected by Cessna to power the new Citation Columbus large cabin business jet. The selection marked the launch of the company's new 10,000 pound-thrust-class engine family.
