Cogon Systems, Inc. Supports the Formation of Virtual Health Communities with its Community MOMENT OF CARE(R)
PENSACOLA, Fla., Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Pensacola, FL-based Cogon
Systems, Inc. is excited to announce the continuing growth and maturation of
its Internet-based health information exchange platform, the Community MOMENT
OF CARE(R).
The South Florida Health Information Initiative has implemented the
Community MOMENT OF CARE(R) withinMiami, Florida. In the coming year, Cogon
Systems, Inc. has been funded by the Department of Defense to facilitate the
first wide-scale sharing of clinical information between multiple civilian
providers and federal providers within the Pensacola region.
Healthcare providers are often in need of clinical information from other
providers in order to provide better, coordinated patient care. Cogon
Systems' Community MOMENT OF CARE(R) allows providers to securely access these
disparate records that may reside within their own institution, within their
referral network, or even information from a facility outside their typical
sphere of influence -- such as a nearby clinic, a Department of Defense
Hospital, a Veterans Administration facility, or another specialist across
town. Until now, the problem with this need for data is that most of the
information was inaccessible within interoperable systems. Cogon Systems,
Inc. liberates this information, providing multiple ways for caregivers to
have this information readily available to them via secure Internet
technologies and protocols.
The Community MOMENT OF CARE(R) is an Internet-based software tool that
employs service oriented architecture and adheres to emerging standards
advocated by the Health Information Technology Standards Panel. By utilizing
the Internet, the Community MOMENT OF CARE(R) can scale to meet the healthcare
information sharing needs of hospitals, physician practices and entire
communities as it seeks to coordinate continuum of care.
Cogon Systems, Inc. via its Community MOMENT OF CARE(R) will help clients
leverage the power of the Internet in order to improve patient safety, reduce
costs, especially that associated with indigent care, and create stronger
communication links between providers within a virtual health community.
