Philadelphia Region Home to Two 2008 McDonald's(R) High School Basketball All Americans
PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- On Tuesday, February 19 the
McDonald's All American Basketball Games selection committee announced the 24
members of the 31st annual Boys Team and the 24 members of the seventh annual
Girls Team. The Games will be played March 26 at the Bradley Center in
Milwaukee, Wis. The players are Tyreke Evans of American Christian Academy in
Aston, Pa. and Elena Delle Donne of Ursuline Academy inWilmington, Del.
Evans will be the only male player from Pennsylvania to attend the Games.
The Boys Game will tip-off at 9:30 p.m. (EST) March 26 and will broadcast live
on ESPN.
Delle Donne will suit up for the Girls Game which will air prior to the
Boys Game at 7:00 p.m. (EST) on ESPNU. Delle Donne led Ursuline Academy to
three straight Delaware State Championship titles since her freshman year and
was ranked as the number one overall high school recruit by Scout.com.
"The McDonald's All American Games is the premier prep showcase for the
top talent in college and pro basketball," said Alonzo Mourning, captain of
the new McDonald's All American Advisory Council. "Not only will these young
stars be added to the list of the best basketball players of all time, but
they will aid in raising money for an important cause."
Proceeds from the 2008 McDonald's All American High School Basketball
Games will go to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC(R)) of Eastern
Wisconsin and the local Ronald McDonald House Program. Millions of dollars
have been raised since the first Game was played in 1978.
Every athlete who participates in the McDonald's All American Games will
visit the host city's local RMHC Chapter to experience first-hand how the
