HGTV Design Star Champion Kim Myles Makes Stylish Premiere

Winner of Hit Reality Competition Debuts Her Own HGTV Show, Myles of Style, on Thursday, March 20 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT

She captured America's vote to become an HGTV Design Star and now Kim Myles is ready to shine in her own HGTV show, Myles of Style. In the new weekly series, which sneak peeks on Sunday, March 16 at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT and will air regularly on Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT beginning March 20, Kim will show viewers how to transform lackluster spaces into beautifully designed rooms with her unique spin on design and décor. In addition, viewers can visit http://HGTV.com/mylesofstyle to see the show's exciting online package that includes Kim's exclusive podcast, a weekly video blog in which Kim answers viewers' design questions, as well as lots of great decorating tips and ideas.

Kim, who describes her personal style as "global urban elegance," has admitted an "aversion to sameness" that inspires her creative vision for the mundane rooms she encounters in every episode. Each week, Kim will arrive on the homeowners' doorstep with her signature shopping bags full of goodies for the room makeover, including rich fabric swatches, extraordinary decor items and a new color palette that will rejuvenate the space with a fresh modern style. In addition, each episode will feature a special project in which Kim will create glamorous pieces from ordinary materials that viewers can easily replicate, such as transforming wall art into a chic ceiling medallion and adding inexpensive gold stickers to enhance a plain coffee table.

"Kim's keen eye for design and her ability to create fantastic décor with unexpected materials will provide viewers with a whole new approach to designing their own spaces," said James Bolosh, vice president, HGTV event programming. "From the shopping tips and field trips to the simple ways to invigorate bland furnishings, viewers will see Kim demonstrate easy design ideas that result in a polished and cohesive look."

In the sneak peek episode, viewers will meet Hector and Marina Perez, a couple who have tried everything to achieve the right look for their cottage-style living room. After attempting several style changes, including reupholstering the furniture, reworking the fireplace and repainting multiple times, the Perez family is out of ideas. With the room's coved ceilings, indoor shutters and gleaming hardwood floors, Kim sees the room's potential to become "cottage chic." To achieve this comfortable yet stylish design, Kim incorporates glamorous touches like velvet accessories, a soft celery green color for the walls and a silver cabana stripe on the ceiling to accentuate the room's classic cottage architecture. When Kim and the show's contractor Anthony Gilardi are through, the homeowners love the clean lines and fresh color palette that has convincingly captured the look that Hector and Marina had envisioned for the space.

In future episodes, viewers will see Kim take on a variety of design challenges that range from finding a tasteful way to incorporate bold gold and big colors to updating a charming 1911 Craftsman fixer-upper. Each room provides an exciting challenge that will supply both the homeowners and viewers with a fun and approachable spin on style.
