"Today's cyber criminals are more cunning than ever before, using highly
targeted, sophisticated attack methods to compromise proprietary systems
and information. It is critical that the security industry evolve to meet
this changing threat landscape," said Pat Clawson, chairman and CEO of
Lumension Security, Inc. "The impressive collection of security experts
that we've assembled for our annual 360 Security Conference will not only
provide attendees with a comprehensive overview of emerging security
challenges and protection strategies, but it also demonstrates Lumension
Security's emergence as one of the security industry's elite companies. We
look forward to another successful conference as we continue to provide our
customers and partners with the most robust unified protection and control
endpoint security suite available on the market today."
Featured Keynote Sessions
-- "The Changing Face of Cybercrime" -- Alan Paller, founder and research
Director of the SANS Institute, will provide an overview of how cyber
criminals attack systems, what they are after and how their methods are
changing. Mr. Paller will outline new attack vectors and the most promising
techniques for defending systems against them.
-- "Social Engineering: The Most Common Threat to Your Organization" --
Ira Winkler, president of the Internet Security Advisors Group and noted
author, will examine the emergence of social engineering as one of the most
prolific enterprise security threats. Mr. Winkler will use his own cases of
social engineering and human intelligence collection to demonstrate how he
took over banks and compromised some of the largest companies in the world.
He will also offer sound strategies to guard against the social engineering
threat.
-- "Streamlining Compliance to Policies Using Open Standards Platform" --
Tony Sager, chief of the National Security Agency's (NSA) Vulnerability
Analysis and Operations Group, will highlight some of the ways that the NSA
-- in cooperation with many partners -- is translating vulnerability
knowledge into countermeasures and solutions that scale across the entire
community. This includes the development and release of security guidance
through the NSA public Web site and sponsorship of a number of community
events. It also includes support for development of open standards
for vulnerability information, and joint sponsorship of the Information
Security Automation Program (ISAP) to help security professionals automate
security compliance and manage vulnerabilities.
-- "Data Protection Initiatives: Will the Mandates Hurt or Help
Enterprises?" -- Roger Cressey, president and founder of the Good Harbor
Group and current on-air counterterrorism analyst for NBC News, will
discuss some key initiatives being reviewed by the U.S. government to curb
cybercrime, what these initiatives entail and whether the mandates would
hinder business continuity or better protect critical data from loss and
theft. Cressey will also delve into how businesses need to adopt stronger
corporate governance to better secure systems and information to avoid
costly incidents.
-- "Security 3.0: Are You Ready for the Next Wave?" -- Victor Wheatman,
managing vice president with Gartner Research, will discuss how the
traditional, reactive approach to security is no longer the most affective
means of protection against today's increasingly sophisticated attacks. Mr.
Wheatman will present "security 3.0" as the next leap in evolution of the
security program to meet boardroom concerns of protecting customer data,
minimizing risks to the business bottom line and reducing the cost of
demonstrating compliance to an increasing number of regulations.
-- "End Point Protection: Where Do We Go from Here?" -- Eric Maiwald,
vice president and service director with the Burton Group, will highlight
the flaws in traditional, complex endpoint security, including the
drawbacks of a reactive, blacklisting approach. Mr. Maiwald will outline
how changes in business and user behavior limit the available options, and
introduce the "positive security model" as an alternative approach. He
will also point out some of the ramifications of a positive security
approach and the tradeoffs involved.
