SA Forum Announces 2008 Officers and Further Strengthens Industry Position Through Increased Membership
BEAVERTON, Ore., Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The Service Availability
Forum(TM) (SA Forum), the leader in developing open specifications for
carrier-grade service availability, today announced its newly elected officers
for 2008, the addition of five new member companies in 2007, growing adoption
of its recently enhanced specifications, and higher levels of collaboration
with industry organizations to further the growth of the commercial-off-the-
shelf (COTS) ecosystem. SA Forum members are poised to continue this momentum
into 2008, enabling implementers to bring their products and services to the
market faster and more cost-effectively.
SA Forum 2008 Officers
The following SA Forum officers for 2008 were elected at the December
members' meeting:
-- Asif Naseem, GoAhead Software, has been re-elected as president
-- Ulrich Kleber, Nokia Siemens Networks, follows Magnus Karlson, Ericsson,
as technical chair
-- John Fryer, Emerson Network Power, has been re-elected as marketing
chair
-- Jean-Paul Lauranson, Sun Microsystems follows Eivind Rongved, Sun
Microsystems, as secretary / treasurer
-- Bryan Harold, IBM, has been re-elected as compliance governing board
chair
-- Jim Lawrence, Enea, follows Henry Turko, Nokia Siemens Networks, as
member relations officer
"With new members and partners on board, the SA Forum plans to carry this
energy from the past year into 2008 as we prepare to release another set of
enhanced specifications, updated education materials and new white papers,"
said Asif Naseem, SA Forum president.
The SA Forum released two suites of enhanced specifications in 2007, with
Release 4 in February followed by Release 5 in October. The new specifications
maintain backwards compatibility while offering a richer set of features for
both the Application Interface Specification (AIS) and the Hardware Platform
Interface (HPI) specification.
New Members Reflect Further Adoption of SA Forum Specs
The following companies joined SA Forum in 2007:

-- Continuous Computing -- Tail-f Systems
-- embeddedMIND

The SA Forum continues to actively participate with other industry
organizations to further the COTS ecosystem. In 2007, the SA Forum and the
Communications Platform Trade Association (CP-TA), the industry's leading
organization for interoperability certification, announced a liaison agreement
to drive the certification of COTS products for the telecommunications
industry. The SA Forum also maintains its relationship with industry groups
through theMountain View Alliance. The SA Forum continues to engage with the
SCOPE Alliance, taking SCOPE profiles and recommendations into consideration
in the evolution and creation of SA Forum specifications.
