eCopy Introduces Portfolio of Document Imaging Products
Portfolio Provides New Benefits to System Integrators and Software Developers

eCopy(TM) Inc. today announced a portfolio of
document imaging applications that easily and securely transforms paper
documents into business value using office equipment readily available in
most organizations -- multifunction printers (MFPs) and network-attached
scanners. eCopy document imaging software helps organizations convert time
lost to processing paper documents into more productive work that
contributes to bottom-line profitability.
eCopy now offers three document imaging applications to address individual,
workgroup and enterprise needs. The applications provide organizations with
a consistent, easy-to-use document imaging process based on a software
platform that enables them to:
-- Unlock paper-based information so it can be included directly into
business software applications;
-- Consolidate paper and electronic processes into a single workflow;
-- Ensure business continuity against disaster or loss of critical
documents; and
-- Enable workgroup collaboration without paper-bound constraints of time
and distance.
"eCopy's new product portfolio provides a range of offerings that addresses
a broad spectrum of customer environments," said Sam Yoshida, vice
president and general manager, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A. "It
gives Canon important new software products that will greatly expand the
number of customers who will be interested in using their Canon
imageRUNNERs to improve productivity by scanning documents to business
software applications."
eCopy software presents an intuitive interface that encourages user
adoption and directly connects document imaging with business applications
that are essential to productivity and collaboration including e-mail, fax
server and content management systems. eCopy was the first company to offer
scanning software for MFPs and these new products incorporate over ten
years of industry experience in this application space. The eCopy portfolio
is supported across an array of MFPs and scanners so a document imaging
application can be matched to the office equipment of choice.
The eCopy product family includes:
-- eCopy Desktop(TM) -- PC software that improves productivity by enabling
office workers to use desktop MFPs and scanners to scan documents and
create PDF files. The software makes it easy to capture, edit and
secure paper documents so that users can work with and share these
documents just as they would electronic files, like those created using
Microsoft Word or Excel. It also enables users to combine paper and
electronic files into a single PDF document.

entry-level document scanning and distribution to improve workgroup
productivity. With eCopy ShareScan Essentials, office workers can use
MFPs to capture paper documents securely and distribute them as
PDF files, improving group access to information. The software includes
scanning to:
-- E-mail
-- Fax
-- Network folders
-- eCopy Desktop

eCopy ShareScan Essentials is expandable with optional application
Connectors to integrate directly into other business software
applications. The software provides an ideal solution for system
integrators (SIs) and independent software vendors (ISVs) to develop
custom Connectors that integrate paper-based information into any
software application. In addition, the eCopy Open Platform includes
powerful software development tools that insulate developers from
functional and interface differences of MFPs and other document
scanning devices.
-- eCopy ShareScan Suite(TM) -- an all-encompassing document scanning
solution for business process efficiency with an unmatched level of
enterprise application connectivity. The software includes
out-of-the-box integration to leading content management, e-mail,
fax, database, collaboration and cost recovery software applications,
as well as eCopy Desktop. It enables users to work securely and
seamlessly with familiar applications from any MFP or scanner on an
enterprise network.
For companies with an extensive Microsoft infrastructure, eCopy
ShareScan Suite provides the broadest, deepest compatibility of any
document imaging application. The software has built-in integration
with Microsoft:
-- Active Directory
-- Exchange
-- SharePoint
-- Access
-- Network and Web folders
-- SQL Server
-- Windows Vista

paper-bound processes," said Edward Schmid, president and CEO of eCopy.

provide the productivity enhancements of sophisticated document scanning
and distribution software at price points that will provide ROI for nearly
every organization."
