eXtreme PC Gear Improves Cross-Sell With Baynote Recommendations
Computer Component Vendor Joins Other Internet Retailer Top 500 Companies Such as AbeBooks, CompUSA and The Knot

eTail Palm Desert -- Baynote, Inc.
(www.baynote.com), a leader in intent-driven product and content
recommendations for the business web, today announced eXtreme PC Gear,
which offers computer and electronics products, is already experiencing
improved cross-sell and up-sell since the implementations of Baynote
Recommendations less than two months ago.
eXtreme PC Gear, an Internet Retailer Top 500 Company, turned to Baynote
despite having access to a free cross-sell functionality from its eCommerce
vendor. One of the main challenges eXtreme PC Gear faced was that a large
number of Google-referred visitors were coming and immediately bouncing.
With Baynote in place, these visitors are immediately shown a number of
recommended products including products complementary to the item they were
searching for within Google.
"We need a solution to showcase what our visitors really want," said Ryan
Yang, president of eXtreme PC Gear. "After hearing Jack Jia from Baynote
speak at a conference, I was convinced that instead of predicting what our
visitors are actually looking for, we wanted the wisdom of the community to
do it for us."
Baynote's unique approach to product recommendations is to tap the implicit
behaviors of site visitors and surface the natural associations they make
among various products. This "wisdom of the invisible crowds" allows
eCommerce sites to rapidly begin making product recommendations because it
does not require any profile data on individuals. Also, Baynote
Recommendations automatically capture visitors from Google referrals based
on the keywords they were searching. This significantly improves the
shopping experience and ultimately the bottom line for retailers by
reducing bounce rates.
"With Baynote, we're seeing people coming to our site looking for a
component, leaving with a solution," added Ryan Yang. "We see a great long
term potential for Baynote to make a significant contribution to our bottom
line."
Baynote will be discussing eXtreme PC Gear and its other eCommerce
customers including CompUSA, AbeBooks, Horizon Hobby and The Knot this week
at the eTail Palm Desert conference. For more information on Baynote's
participation in eTail, please see the Feb 11th press release titled
