No Incidence of Bird-Flu in Jammu & Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 23: Authorities in Kashmir claimed that no case of avian influenza has been reported from anywhere in Kashmir.
Director Animal Husbandry Jammu convened a meeting of senior level officers of to take stock of the situation arising as a result of reported outbreak of bird-flu in the Indian state of West Begal.
He said that at present no case of avian influenza has been reported in Kashmir. "In view of the reported outbreak of bird-flu in West Bengal, the department has taken concrete steps to meet any eventuality. Surveillance has been increased all over Kashmir and the birds entering Kashmir are being screened.
He advised the officers to keep strict vigil and surveillance at all levels especially in and around poultry farms and water bodies where migratory migratory birds arrive.
He said that officials have been asked to closely monitor all the wetlands and report any mortality in migratory birds.
