Human Salivary Amylase From Lee Biosolutions
SAINT LOUIS, Mo. (EWORLDWIRE) Jan 23, 2008
Lee Biosolutions is now providing human salivary amylase to clinical researchers worldwide. Human salivary amylase, also called ptyalin, is an enzyme produced by the salivary glands that initiates carbohydrate digestion in the mouth and continues in the body of the stomach after food and saliva has been swallowed.
Lee Biosolutions' extensive human donor program allows the company to process over 500 liters of human saliva per year for human salivary amylase production requirements. The high purity human salivary amylase has been qualified by major IVD manufacturers worldwide.
According to Lee Biosolutions' President Burton Lee, human salivary amylase is one of a number of new products the company is introducing in 2007.
"We operate with one ear constantly tuned to the research community," Lee said. "This helps us stay on top of the latest research being conducted and gives us the information we need to stay ahead of their demands."
Salivary amylase enzyme is the only enzyme in saliva capable of degrading oligosaccharides, which are used by the oral microflora for nutritional purposes. Because human salivary amylase can act anywhere on the substrate, human alpha-amylase enzyme tends to be faster acting than beta-amylase enzyme.
Human alpha amylase is primarily classified into two kinds of isoenzymes. S-type amylase comes from salivary glands and P-type amylase from the pancreas. The company offers both types of isoenzymes in research and bulk quantities, and it has the capabilities to custom purify human alpha amylase in a wide variety of buffers.
Lee Biosolutions is a leader in the biomaterials industry, providing quality biomaterial products to clinical labs and researchers around the world, developing tomorrow's cures. Leebio has provided human proteins used in a number of high profile biomarker studies. For more information or to place an order, contact:
