Josh Burkman, better known as "The People's Warrior," will be opening the 2008 UFC season as the headline fight against Mike Swick in Las Vegas on January 23, 2008. You can join Josh and his sponsors, including Extreme Kinetic, at an autograph signing at the Palms Hotel Parking lot on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 1:00-3:00 p.m. The first 800 people to arrive will receive a free T-shirt signed by Josh Burkman. Josh's dreams have finally come true. For the past three years Josh has been a fighter with the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) and has prevailed over his competition. Through all of his hard work, dedication and passion for the sport, Josh "The People's Warrior" is back in the UFC limelight next week in Las Vegas. On Wednesday, January 23, 2008 Josh will be fighting Mike Swick in the headline fight opening the 2008 UFC season.

Josh attended Cottonwood High School in Salt Lake City, Utah. Josh was an excellent running back and earned a scholarship to Snow College in Utah. After one season, Josh transferred to Dixie College where he led his team to win the "Dixie Rotary Bowl." Josh earned All Conference and All American honors. Shortly before his second season Josh heard of a local fighting competition and decided to give it a shot. He lost his first fight but that didn't stop him from falling in love with full contact fighting. He decided to leave football and start training in mixed martial arts (MMA) to pursue his new dream of becoming a professional MMA fighter. After his first loss, he went on to win 9 consecutive fights in an amateur fighting circuit. Josh fought with such passion that he quickly won over the fans, thus becoming "The People's Warrior." Josh continued to follow his dream and progressed into the professional fighting circuit where he continued to win and make his way closer to his dream of someday becoming an Ultimate Fighter.
