Comptroller of the Currency Announces Community Bank Directors Workshops for 2008
The Office of the Comptroller of the
Currency today announced its 2008 schedule of workshops for national
community bank directors.
"OCC bank director workshops provide practical training to directors of
national community banks," said Comptroller of the Currency John C. Dugan.
"Taught by experienced bank examiners, these workshops provide useful
insight that bank directors can apply every day."
The OCC offers three one-day workshops, which cost $65 each:
-- "Directors: Where is the Risk in Your Bank" (formerly "Understanding
the OCC's Risk Assessment Process"),
-- "Compliance Risk: What Directors Need to Know," and
-- "Credit Risk: A Director's Focus,"
For $100, the OCC also offers the following two-day workshop for
national bank directors with fewer than three years of experience or
directors who would like to review the basics:
-- "A New Director's Challenge: Mastering the Basics."
These workshops are offered around the country throughout the year and are
geared primarily to outside directors of national community banks with
assets of less than $1 billion. Management directors may also find the
workshops beneficial. Space is limited to 50 participants to promote open
and targeted dialogue. Attendees receive pre-course reading and course
materials, an OCC telephone seminar CD, other supervisory material, a
continental breakfast and lunch.
This year workshops will be held in Phoenix (February 25-27); Indianapolis
(May 20-22); Hershey, Pennsylvania (July 8-10); Denver (July 29-July 31);
San Antonio (September 16-18); Fort Myers, Florida (April 14-16); and Long
Beach, California (October 6-8). Details and a complete schedule are
available at http://www.occ.gov/conference.htm.
