Save Darfur Coalition Thanks Supporters
By Alan Gray, NewsBlaze
At the end of the year, Colleen Connors of the
Save Darfur Coalition notes this is your last chance to make a tax-deductible 2007 year-end donation to help end the violence in Darfur.
Connors says the organization is just $174,287 away from their $450,000 goal and is asking for help to reach it by making your tax-deductible 2007 year-end gift before midnight tomorrow. [Donate to Save Darfur]
As we head into the final hours of 2007, Darfur is still without a lasting peace.
Looking back on the last year there is no doubt that critical strides have been made towards ending the violence in Darfur.
Thanks to one million Save Darfur activists, they have:
Put tremendous pressure on Congress, the White House, the United Nations, and China to use their power and influence to help end the violence;
Pushed for the strongest peacekeeping force and the quickest deployment possible; and
Helped build a successful national divestment movement to withdraw funds from companies helping to support the genocide.
The job is far from over.
Right now, United Nations and African Union peacekeepers are poised to help but Sudanese President Bashir is blocking their deployment. And, despite their declarations of support for the people of Darfur, President Bush, Chinese President Hu, and other world leaders are allowing Bashir's delays to continue, prolonging the suffering in Darfur.
Continued effort is needed to stop Bashir's delays and ensure that peacekeeping forces reach Darfur in 2008.
Your donation before midnight tomorrow can help bring peace to Darfur in the coming year. [Donate to Save Darfur]
To supporters and donors, Connors says "Thank you for your generosity and your continued dedication to the people of Darfur. Wishing you a happy, healthy New Year from all of us here at the Save Darfur Coalition."
