Florida Supercon:the South Florida Mega Convention
Florida Supercon Announces "the Legendary" Carmine Infantino as The Comic Book Guest of Honor for May 23-25, 2008 Show
Florida Supercon is back and bigger than ever! Get ready for the largest multi-genre convention in South Florida History as Florida Supercon moves to it's new "super-sized" location, The Hyatt Regency Bonaventure Resort in Weston, FL.
We are proud to announce the latest guest scheduled to appear at the show. Carmine Infantino will be our Comic Book Guest of Honor.
* This legendary creator, with 3 US Postage Stamps to his credit, will always be remembered as the personification of DC Comics1 Silver Age. Infantino helped save the then-dying comics industry in 1956, as the artist who launched the Silver Age with his co-creation; the FLASH and remains the best-loved Flash artist of all-time.
* Infantino proved one of the all-time, great sci-fi artists with both ADAM STRANGE and STAR WARS.
* In 1964 he and Julius Schwartz saved BATMAN from cancellation with the "New Look" and co-created Batgirl. All of which inspired the '60s BATMAN TV-show and movie.
* Infantino is the top Batman artist of the 60s. Under his trusted hand, Batman sold right at a million copies a month-the top selling comic in the world at that time.
* Infantino also created Animal Man, Black Canary, Poison Ivy and all of the Flash's Rouges Gallery of villains.
* Infantino became Publisher and President of DC, launching comic books of pulp characters; the Shadow & Tarzan, the socially-relevant Adams-O'Neil GREEN LANTERN-GREEN ARROW series, Jack Kirby1s FOURTH WORLD saga, the SHAZAM revival of Captain Marvel, pay raises, royalties, DC-Marvel crossover books including
SUPERMAN vs. SPIDER-MAN (for which he designed the cover) and the return of original art to artists.
* Infantino's film and TV credits include SUPERMAN film I & II, SUPER-FRIENDS, ISIS, and SHAZAM. - COMICS BUYERS GUIDE's Millennium poll ranked Infantino the greatest comics penciler of all-time second only to the late Jack Kirby (who left marvel to work with Infantino at DC)!
* Infantino recently released his autobiography, THE AMAZING WORLD OF CARMINE INFANTINO co-written with J. David Spurlock.
