76 IBCT Departure Ceremony
Governor Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. and Maj. Gen. R. Martin Umbarger, The Adjutant General, would like to announce a departure ceremony for the Soldiers of the 76th Brigade Combat Team, headquartered in Indianapolis, who are preparing to deploy in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, January 2, at 1:00 pm at the RCA Dome.
Doors will open at 11:00 am for family and friends of the soldiers. The ceremony will include guest speakers Governor Daniels, Senator Richard D. Lugar, and Indianapolis Mayor (elect) Greg Ballard, select Indiana congressional delegates and other officials.
Units from across the state deploying with the brigade include:
113th Combat Support Battalion, Columbus, Ind.;
1st Battalion, 151st Infantry Regiment, Jasper, Ind.;
1st Battalion, 152nd Infantry Regiment, New Albany, Ind.;
1st Battalion, 293rd Infantry Regiment, Fort Wayne, Ind.;
1st Battalion, 163rd Field Artillery, Evansville, Ind.;
76th Special Troops Battalion, Indianapolis, Ind.;
Headquarters and Headquarters Service Battery, 3rd Battalion, 139th Field Artillery, Crawfordsville, Ind.;
Battery A, 2nd Battalion, 150th Field Artillery, Greencastle, Ind.;
1638th Transportation Company, Remington, Ind.
This event is closed to the general public due to reserved seating for family and friends of deploying soldiers.
Media are invited to attend. Please contact the Indiana National Guard Public affairs office to obtain additional information. Media will enter the RCA Dome through the Senate Street gate (2A) starting at 11:00, sign in, receive credentials and media escort.
