Holiday in the Hills on Sutter Street

Holiday in the Hills is a wonderful play, created especially for the holidays by Stage Nine Theater in Sutter Street, Folsom.

The show takes us back to 1863 on Sutter Street, led by Mike Jimena as Peter J. Hopper, a Folsom Attorney, Politician and owner of the Folsom Weekly Newspaper. Hopper bounces off the audience, encouraging - and getting - participation to make an interesting evening "interactive" and highly enjoyable.

The whole audience laughed, participated and laughed some more. A great show that lifts your spirits and makes you belive it really is 1863 all over again. There are too many colorful characters to name them all, you just have to see it. If you have been around Folsom for more than five minutes, you will recognize most of the names.

The show is in it's last week and some tickets are still available. Call 916 353 1001 for reservations. "Holiday in the Hills" shows Friday and Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 4pm, running approximately 1 hour 45 minutes. On Saturday and Sunday, "Holiday Celebration" runs for an hour, starting at 1:30pm.

Excerpts from "Holiday in the Hills"

In the afternoon and evening, the short play "An Implausible Clause" is included, in which Jon Templin as a Jewish Santa (who else would work at Christmas time?) regains some of the joy of his youth. Julia Adams plays a young girl who finds Santa by hacking the phone company's computer system, then leads herself and Santa on a journey of self discovery.

Stage Nine began in Folsom one year ago and is a great success. As well as being home to the Actor's Theater of Folsom, it is now home to the Young People's Theater of Folsom.

A really nice touch was a "My Brother Vinny's" "buy one get one free" dinner voucher in my show program.

If you can catch "Holiday in the Hills" or "Holiday Celebration", it is well worth the time - we're really glad we did. On Friday and Saturday evenings, make use of the Valet Parking on the corner of Sutter and Wool Streets.
