We Have Arches in Historic Folsom
By Alan Gray, NewsBlaze
No it isn't McDonalds, the arches are made of brick and they are on the new parking structure.
Years in the making, we can now see the final stages of the first major improvement on the rairoad block, or as it is now called, Historic Folsom Station. That name will be hard to get used to for those who have been around here for a while, but I think it is a really fitting name that suits the area.
The Parking Structure project has moved along well in the past year and now, as the facade starts to take shape, I can feel a lot of excitement from people in the area.
The brickwork on the structure is being crafted by Richard Reynolds Masonry, based in Oroville, California. The masonry company have 15 workers on this project. Richard Reynolds told Folsom Local News "our guys take huge pride in the work they do and we are really pleased to be working on this project. We have worked on five other parking structures recently, not one of them has the architectural value of this Folsom Station building and we're very pleased to be part of it."
He also said "We add the icing on the cake and this is a building Folsom can be proud of forever."

Speaking about the winter weather, Richard said he is reviewing methods to allow their work to continue even in the rain, possibly by using tarps over the building.
Brickwork was originally planned to be completed around the end of January, but delays in starting the project are expected to extend it slightly.
The parking structure project has caused some disruption for parking, but it could have been much worse. Mitigation by the use of reasonable parking time limits and free valet parking, soon assisted by pedicab rides, have made a difference.
Once this project is completed, it will be the signal for many other local projects to begin. It also signals the breaking of a logjam that held up development for so many years, but I think the logjam turned out for the better, because this is a great project now.
