Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Announces January 2008 Debut for 'everyday Baking From Everyday Food,' A New Pbs Television Series Based on The Popular Publishing Franchise 'everyday Food'
Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. (NYSE: MSO) today announced the launch of "Everyday Baking from Everyday Food" on PBS (check local listings) beginning January 2008. The new, half-hour program features easy and delicious baking recipes for cookies, cakes, pies, tarts and more - all from the pages of Everyday Food magazine.
With a focus on the techniques and finishing skills needed to produce beautiful, bakery- quality results for friends and family, the program serves as an easy-to-understand resource for all baking-related "how-to" information. "Everyday Baking from Everyday Food" is hosted by John Barricelli, a former "Everyday Food" co-host and a contributor on the daytime how-to program, "The Martha Stewart Show."
Also announced today was the January 2008 premiere of season four of "Everyday Food" (check local listings). This half-hour series presents step-by-step instruction of recipes featured in the award-winning magazine of the same name. This season, Everyday Food magazine Assistant Food Editor Emma Feigenbaum joins the cast, which also includes: Sarah Carey, Allie Lewis, Margot Olshan and Lucinda Scala Quinn. Both "Everyday Food" and "Everyday Baking from Everyday Food" have been filmed in high-definition.
Commenting on the new series, MSLO Founder Martha Stewart said, "I have been a baker for most of my life and have found it to be an incredibly satisfying pursuit and pastime, one that always brings together friends and family. I am delighted to have John Barricelli as the host of this new series. He is an excellent baker and will provide viewers with the kind of guidance needed to make their baking experiences memorable and delicious."
Sheraton Kalouria, President of Broadcasting at MSLO, stated, "'Everyday Baking from Everyday Food' is the ideal companion to our popular PBS series 'Everyday Food.' The positive response to the flagship 'Everyday Food' show gives us great confidence that viewers will embrace a full hour of beautiful, high-definition programming when 'Everyday Baking from Everyday Food' premieres."
Mr. Barricelli added, "Several years ago, I opened a café and bakery and have been amazed by how many people have a desire to learn about baking. Many feel that the baking process takes too long or that there is an overwhelming amount of technique that needs to be mastered. I hope this series gives viewers the chance to see how accessible and satisfying baking can be." He will also contribute an exclusive baking column to Everyday Food magazine beginning in the January/February 2008 issue.
Mr. Barricelli began his professional cooking career 28 years ago at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America. He owned and operated Cousin John's Café and Bakery in New York City for 10 years. Prior to that, he worked at such renowned New York City restaurants as The River Café and the Four Seasons Restaurant. Mr. Barricelli is the owner of The SoNo Baking Company and Café in historic South Norwalk, CT, which is also the subject of his forthcoming baking book. Mr. Barricelli has been with Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia since 1998. He started as a commissary chef at Ms. Stewart's Westport studio, then went on to write for Martha Stewart Living magazine and was a contributor to Martha Stewart's Baking Handbook. In 2000, he began working with Ms. Stewart on her television cooking segments.
"Everyday Food," which offers a practical solution to the age-old dilemma, "What's for dinner?" is hosted by five talented, home-grown food editors and recipe developers for MSLO magazines: Allie Lewis, Lucinda Scala Quinn, Emma Feigenbaum, Sarah Carey and Margot Olshan.
